Waves of Horror. A Weekend of British Horror Films and TV

Waves of Horror is a festival devoted to exploring trends and cycles in the horror film genre. Organised in conjunction with The University of Kent and The Gulbenkian, this 2014 inaugural festival takes a fresh look at British horror.

The aim this year is to take a  tentative footstep outside the traditions of British Horror films and seek the horrific in films, whilst acknowledging those that have contributed to building the reputation of British Horror in the cinema and on TV.

Our selection showcases auteurs, past and present, who have and continue to enhance the reputation of British cinema, with their unique and distinctive films. Included too are films from those who symbolise the very heritage of British cinematic horror and those who seek to re-invigorate this very British tradition by punctuating it with realism.

Television too has long established itself as an excellent medium for horror and stories of the supernatural. With this in mind, the weekend will bring television horror to the big screen with an interesting mix of chilling tales and affectionate pastiche.

Plus...new talent and a family horror too! What else could you want from a weekend of horror......

We will be updating on a regular basis...so please keep visiting for news, guest speaker announcements and of course.....screenings!
